The common tenrec (Tenrec ecaudatus) is an insectivorous land mammal than is eaten by people throughout Madagascar.
Hunting protected primates
These sikafa lemurs were hunted by a group of men with dogs and armed with sling shots in the western region of Menabe. It is illegal to kill or eat lemurs in Madagascar.
Illegal blow-pipe hunters
It is illegal to kill Malagasy lemurs. This group of hunters used traditional 3-m long blow-pipes with poison darts to kill the sifaka (Propithecus diadema).
Bats in the cooking pot
These Hipposideros bats are collected from caves by people in the south and west of Madagascar .
