Two of our Malagasy students from the University of Antananarivo recently obtained degrees following the successful public defence of their research projects on the use of wild animals as food.
Acyl Randrianarison studied the availability of meat from domestic and wild animals in the Menabe Region of Madagascar. He was awarded his 'Diplôme d’Ingénieur en Sciences Agronomiques' in June 2010 in a project that was supported by the Darwin Initiative, Conservation International and Bangor University.
Willy Mananjara, in a project supported by Darwin Initiative, Conservation International, IUCN Netherlands, Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund, the Rufford Laing Foundation and Bangor University, studied the biological and socioeconomic impact of collecting wild edible frogs. He was awarded his 'Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies' from the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Agronomiques, Université d'Antananarivo.
