We started working in Lake Tseny during 2010. This lake is in western Madagascar and our early survey results indicate that it has a remarkable assemblage of endemic fish. A sunken forest near the shore may be the key to maintaining important safe areas for Malagasy fish whilst the open water supports healthy stocks of other fish species that provide an important source of income and protein to local communities.

Lenari, our indri lemur mascot, greets Professor Richard Griffiths of the University of Kent, at our Moramanga office. Professor Griffiths was visiting as part of the Darwin Initiative chameleon project.

Rousettus madagascariensis is the smallest fruit bat in Madagascar. It roosts in caves and feeds in natural forests, villages and farmland. Our projects are conserving this species by establishing improved protection at key roost sites as well as developing a better understanding of its biology and ecology.
