43 prize-winning secondary school pupils were taken on a 2-day visit to Analamazaotra Special Reserve to learn about biodiversity and the environment.
In a project funded by the Tropical Biological Association’s Alumni Fund, Madagasikara Voakajy and Association Mbarakaly organized the study visit for the 43 prize-winning secondary school pupils from the District of Anosibe An’ala. Each pupil conducted a written test about their knowledge of environmental issues on arrival at Analamazaotra and at the end of their visit. The average test scores increased, significantly, from 48.6% to 62.5% after the pupils had been taught by Tropical Biological Association alumni and Madagascar National Park staff. The pupils returned to Anosibe An’ala where Madagasikara Voakajy and Association Mbarakaly are working with communities to conserve rainforest and flying foxes.
